Sales Prep

The weanlings and yearlings under our care receive the utmost attention, individualized diets and customized conditioning programs. Through our hands-on approach, each horse enters the sales at their very best.
Boarding
With more than 450 acres or prime, rich Kentucky pastureland, Chesapeake Farm is ideal for raising robust Thoroughbred foals. It offers spacious paddocks so young horses can run and fully develop their athleticism. Four-board fencing, six barns, six run-in sheds and the modern facilities to meet all horses’ needs. The property on which the farm is based has produced a number of special runners, among them Kentucky Derby-G1 winner Spectacular Bid, Epsom Derby-G1 winner Golden Fleece and the 2006 Preakness-G1 winner Bernardini. Chesapeake employs a farm veterinarian to constantly monitor the health and progress of its boarders, and its staff couples traditional horsemanship with state-of-the-art technologies to ensure horses in their care receive the very best of care.

Bloodstock Consultation
With vast experience in both racing and breeding, we are uniquely positioned to provide clients with expert analysis for pedigree evaluations and bloodstock consultation. We are committed to offering full, unbiased analysis for each individual, giving them the best opportunity for success in the breeding shed, on the racetrack or at the sales.

Breaking
Every horse in our care receives a customized program based on its individual temperament, maturity, and goals. We begin with groundwork—teaching respect, leading, and desensitization—before carefully introducing tack and the rider.
Throughout the process, we emphasize patience, understanding, and clear communication to build confidence and curiosity rather than fear. Regular exercise, proper conditioning, and expert handling ensure your horse develops both physically and mentally at a healthy pace.
